My name is Robin, I am a recovering addict. I'm writing in hopes of helping other people "out there" that think there is no hope for them.

I am 38 years. old & started using Heroin in 1991 with a boyfriend I met & instantly fell in love with. I am a mother of four beautiful children, two of which I lost in my divorce because I was already addicted & knew I could not take care of four children so I gave up on them.

The oldest one has a child of his own that I don't even get to see because my son has a lot of anger towards me. You see I had no knowledge of MMT back then. In 1994 my Mother came and took my youngest two children and told me when I cleaned up I could have them back. Well it was PARTY TIME then.

One day I woke up in the hospital sick as a dog recovering from an overdose of china white. The narcanon shot they gave me put me in immediate withdrawals & I ran out of there A.S.A.P..

I went to the nearest church and talked to a minister & he told me all about MMT & made an appointment for me and paid for it as well. I have never been better!!!

I now have custody of my two younger children and see my grandson on a regular basis. If not for MMT I would surely be dead or imprisoned. I did anything and everything to get my shot of heroin every few hours. I was on a dose of 35mgs. & still using. They finally put me up to 85mgs. & I have been clean for 5 years. now.

Not only did I marry the man I fell in love with (he is also on MMT) we adopted a beautiful baby girl!!!! So for anybody that thinks methadone doesn't help you straighten out your life or you are afraid of the addiction to it look at it this way---You have a DISEASE like it or not. You need medication and not self medicating, you need counseling, support from loved ones, which by the way after a couple of months on MMT trust me you will regain some respect from those you have hurt in the past, just give it a try. It saved my life and my children's.
